Terms & Conditions
The terms on which this website is provided — what the information here is and is not, how it may be used, and the limits of what a website can tell you about your own knee or hip.
These terms apply to rhysclark.com.au, operated by Dr Rhys Clark Orthopaedics. By using the site you accept them. They sit alongside our privacy policy, which explains how personal information is handled.
What this website is
The site exists so that people considering hip or knee surgery — and the GPs who refer them — can read about conditions, procedures and recovery before an appointment.
Everything on it is general information. It is written for a wide audience and cannot take account of your own circumstances. It is not personal medical advice, a diagnosis, or a recommendation for or against any treatment in your case.
No doctor–patient relationship
Reading this site, sending an enquiry through the contact form, or emailing the practice does not create a doctor–patient relationship. That relationship begins at a consultation.
Nothing here should delay you from seeking care. If you have a medical concern, see your GP. If you are having a medical emergency, call 000 or go to your nearest emergency department. Do not use the enquiry form for anything urgent — it is checked in business hours.
Please keep enquiries general
Email and web forms are convenient but not fully secure. Please do not send detailed medical history, scan results, Medicare numbers or health fund details through the form. Phone the rooms on (08) 6332 6365 if your question is clinical. This is also set out in the privacy policy.
Accuracy and currency
Clinical pages are written or reviewed by Dr Clark and carry a last-reviewed date. Reasonable care goes into keeping them accurate, but orthopaedic practice changes, and figures such as case volumes, costs and hospital arrangements are correct as at the date shown rather than indefinitely.
We do not warrant that the site is free of errors or omissions, or that it will be available without interruption. If you find something that looks wrong, please tell us.
Costs and health fund arrangements
Any figures on this site describing the cost of surgery are indicative only, and the arrangements described apply in the circumstances stated on the page they appear on. They are not a quote. Your own out-of-pocket cost depends on your health fund, your policy, the hospital, the prosthesis, and the anaesthetist and surgical assistant, who bill independently.
You should receive written informed financial consent covering all of it before you commit to surgery. Ask for it.
Links to other sites
The site links to third parties — hospitals, colleges, registries, published research and health directories. Those links are there because the material is useful. We do not control those sites and are not responsible for their content, their accuracy or their privacy practices.
Profiles describing this practice also appear on directories we do not control. Where one of those disagrees with this website, this website is correct.
Intellectual property
The text, photographs, diagrams and design of this site belong to Dr Rhys Clark Orthopaedics or its licensors. You may read, print and share pages for your own personal or clinical use, and you are welcome to link to any page.
Republishing, adapting or using the content commercially needs written permission. Write to info@rhysclark.com.au.
Limitation of liability
To the extent permitted by law, Dr Rhys Clark Orthopaedics is not liable for any loss or damage arising from your use of this site or from reliance on information published on it.
Nothing in these terms excludes, restricts or modifies any guarantee, right or remedy you have under the Australian Consumer Law or other legislation that cannot lawfully be excluded.
Changes to these terms
We may update these terms. The version published here is the one that applies, and the date below shows when it last changed.
Governing law
These terms are governed by the laws of Western Australia, and the courts of Western Australia have jurisdiction.

Does reading this website make me a patient?+
No. Reading the site, or sending an enquiry through it, does not create a doctor–patient relationship. That begins at a consultation, after a referral, when Dr Clark has examined you and reviewed your imaging.
Can I rely on this website to decide about surgery?+
No. Everything here is general information written for a wide audience. Whether a knee or hip replacement is right for you depends on your history, your examination and your scans, and that can only be settled in a consultation. Use the site to arrive at that appointment better informed, not to replace it.
Can I copy content from this site?+
You are welcome to read it, print it and share a link. The text, photographs and diagrams are the property of the practice or its licensors, so please do not republish or adapt them elsewhere without asking first — write to info@rhysclark.com.au.
What if something on the site is out of date?+
Clinical pages carry a last-reviewed date so you can see how current they are. Practice and orthopaedics both move, so a page may not reflect the most recent evidence or the practice's current arrangements. If something looks wrong or out of date, phone the rooms on (08) 6332 6365 and we will check it.
