Specialist Anaesthetist
Dr Peter Garnett
Introduction
Dr Peter Garnett is a specialist anaesthetist who works with Dr Rhys Clark’s surgical team, planning each patient’s anaesthetic alongside the rest of the team rather than in isolation.
“I use a range of contemporary anaesthesia techniques — including regional, neuraxial and general anaesthesia — to enhance your recovery after surgery,” explains Dr Garnett. The intention is to keep patients comfortable enough to start rehabilitation early.
Clinical focus areas
Dr Garnett divides his professional time between clinical practice and clinical education:
- Regional and general anaesthesia for all adult surgical specialities
- Anaesthesia for obstetric, orthopaedic, and ENT surgery
- A clinical education role in his public hospital appointment
Practice locations
Dr Garnett maintains positions at Royal Perth Hospital as a consultant anaesthetist, alongside SJOG Murdoch Hospital and SJOG Subiaco Hospital, with accreditation across most Perth private hospitals.
Pre-operative preparation
Prior to surgery, Dr Garnett’s rooms will contact you to complete a health survey, enabling safe anaesthetic planning. You will receive instructions on preparation, including fasting requirements and relevant medication guidance.
